"Avatar" dan "The Hurt Locker" Borong Nominasi Oscar

Film Avatar dan The Hurt Locker memborong nominasi Piala Oscar 2010. Seperti yang diumumkan Academy of Motion Picture Arts, Selasa (2/2), kedua film meraih sembilan nominasi, termasuk kategori film terbaik dan sutradara terbaik.

Selain film terbaik dan sutradara terbaik, Avatar dan The Hurt Locker juga bersaing untuk kategori sinematografi terbaik, penyunting film terbaik, penata suara terbaik, pemadu suara terbaik, dan penggunaan musik orisinal terbaik. Avatar juga membidik nominasi penata artistik terbaik dan penata efek terbaik. Sedangkan The Hurt Locker meraih nominasi untuk kategori aktor terbaik (Jeremy Renner) dan skenario orisinal terbaik.

Sebelumnya, Avatar meraih dua penghargaan Golden Globe, yakni untuk kategori film drama terbaik dan sutradara terbaik [baca: "Avatar" Raih Dua Golden Globe].

Untuk kategori film terbaik, Avatar dan The Hurt Locker bersaing dengan The Blind Side, District 9, An Education, Inglourious Basterds, Precious: Based on the Novel "Push" by Sapphire, A Serious Man, Up, dan Up in the Air.
